The event was attended by the current Minister of Sports and former army commander, General Anselem Sanyatwe. Gen. Sanyatwe’s presence was particularly significant given his history of serving under the Vice President during their respective military careers.

Sharing photographs of the occasion on social media, Baloyi expressed the family’s commitment to their faith, writing:

“Confirmation of our son Michael at St Gerald’s Church… we are making sure we teach him to live a Christ-like life from a tender age.”

Michael is the son of Vice President Chiwenga and his former wife, Marry, a model. His confirmation into the Catholic church was a family affair, with the current wife playing a visible and supportive role in the proceedings.

The gathering of such high-profile figures from the government and the former military command at a personal religious event has drawn public attention, highlighting the close-knit relationships that continue to define the country’s political landscape.

The presence of Gen. Sanyatwe, a key figure in the armed forces who now holds a cabinet position, underscores the enduring connections between the nation’s political and military spheres.
