Tinotenda Hove – A 19-year-old man has been arrested in Harare after allegedly attempting to sell a human foetus under the guise of beef in the city centre.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) confirmed the arrest of Stelly Marecha on Thursday, 4 July 2025, at the corner of Mbuya Nehanda and Albion Streets.
According to police, Marecha discovered the foetus wrapped in a black plastic bag inside a rubbish bin. Rather than alerting authorities, he allegedly tried to sell it to a 27-year-old man, claiming it was meat.
The would-be customer became suspicious and alerted the police, who quickly responded and took Marecha into custody. He now faces charges of violating a human corpse.
Authorities have since launched an investigation to trace the origins of the foetus and are appealing to anyone with information to come forward.
