The Supreme Court of Namibia has unanimously dismissed a challenge from two opposition parties that sought to annul the results of the November 2024 presidential election.

The opposition argued that irregularities during the election, including ballot shortages and equipment failures at some polling stations, undermined the integrity of the vote.

However, in delivering the 80-page ruling, Chief Justice Peter Shivute affirmed that President Nangolo Mbumba had the legal authority to extend voting hours at affected polling stations to ensure all voters had the opportunity to cast their ballots.

The court found that the actions taken were within the bounds of the law and did not constitute grounds for overturning the election results.
