Tinotenda Hove – The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has released the names of three people who died in a fatal road traffic accident along the Mvurwi-Centenary Road on Saturday, 20 September 2025.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, ZRP spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed that the accident involved a Mazda Demio and a Toyota Dyna truck near Maori Turn Off, at the 38-kilometre peg along the busy highway.

The deceased have been identified as:

Elton Nhundu (28), a male adult of Glenview, Harare

Vongai Mujati (23), a female adult of Budiriro, Harare

Tinotenda Louis Magarangoma (27), a male adult

“The Zimbabwe Republic Police releases the names of the three victims who died in the crash,” the statement read.

Commissioner Nyathi expressed condolences to the bereaved families, saying: “The Zimbabwe Republic Police extends its deepest condolences to the families of the victims in connection with this tragic accident.”

He further urged motorists to be cautious on the roads to prevent further loss of life. “We appeal to drivers to exercise caution on the roads,” Nyathi said.

The tragic collision comes as road traffic accidents continue to claim lives on Zimbabwe’s highways, raising concerns over driver behaviour, speeding, and road safety awareness.
