Zanu PF spokesperson Christopher Mutsvangwa publicly reprimanded Information Minister Jenfan Muswere on Monday, criticizing him for overstepping his authority.
Mutsvangwa issued a stern statement, declaring:
“The Secretary for Information and Publicity reminds the Minister of Information and Publicity that the Party Information Department is the sole mouthpiece of the Party. The erroneous announcement of the Manicaland Provincial Women’s League election results is hereby nullified. The Minister is cautioned to refrain from making or allowing announcements that are beyond his mandate.”

RE: SPREADING PARTY NEWS WITHOUT RECOURSE TO DUE PROCESS
It has come to our attention that you allowed the announcement of the Women’s League election results for the Manicaland Provincial elections on the ZBC 8 pm news on the 6th of April 2025, as well as in the Herald on the 7th of April 2025. This was done before the Party had ratified the elections and made an official announcement.
This announcement was irregular and attempted to preempt the proper electoral processes and procedures within the Party. It also undermines standard internal consultations with Party leadership, which is in accordance with the Party’s constitution and principles. As such, this announcement is considered invalid.
The correct and official position will be communicated by this department, the rightful Party mouthpiece, in due course once all processes are finalized.
