Mutsvangwa Defends Tagwirei as Zanu PF Infighting Intensifies

Tinotenda Hove- Zanu PF spokesperson Christopher Mutsvangwa has leapt to the defence of controversial businessman Kuda Tagwirei amid growing allegations of corruption and rising tensions within the ruling party.

Speaking to journalists in Harare on Monday, Mutsvangwa dismissed the accusations as baseless and challenged critics to take their claims to the authorities.

“I don’t know where these allegations of corruption against Kuda Tagwirei are coming from, but if you have evidence please go to the police and report,” Mutsvangwa said.

The remarks come at a time when factional fights in Zanu PF appear to be escalating, with powerful figures reportedly clashing over influence, resources, and succession dynamics. Tagwirei, often linked to government contracts and state-backed ventures, has repeatedly found himself at the centre of controversy, accused by critics of benefitting from political patronage.

However, Mutsvangwa’s strong defence of the businessman suggests that Tagwirei still enjoys backing from influential quarters within the party. Analysts say his name has become a lightning rod in Zanu PF’s internal battles, with rival factions using corruption allegations as a weapon to discredit one another.

Political watchers note that the latest defence highlights the deepening divisions threatening to destabilize the party ahead of future electoral contests.
