Tinotenda Hove – Mhondoro Mubaira, Zimbabwe – Mutasa Murombedzi, Proportional Representation MP for Mashonaland West, spent the day engaging with farmers and community leaders in rural Mhondoro Mubaira, where she praised their resilience amid mounting challenges posed by climate change.

“These men and women are the heartbeat of our communities,” she said. “Their resilience in the face of the changing climate is inspiring. With the right support, our rural areas can thrive.”

The MP emphasized the need for climate-smart agriculture, robust market linkages, and urgent livestock protection as cornerstones of sustainable rural development.

“Stock theft remains a serious threat in rural Mhondoro, stripping families of their livelihoods and eroding rural wealth. We must address this head-on,” she warned.

Murombedzi also urged the government to prioritise the upgrading of the Mhondoro–Skyline Road, which she described as a lifeline for local farmers, schools, and clinics.

“Rural development starts with infrastructure, security, and dignity,” she added. “We will continue to push for policies and interventions that reflect the lived realities of our farmers.”

The visit is part of ongoing efforts to ensure that the concerns of rural communities remain central to national development planning.
