Tinotenda Hove– Freedom Fighters for Change leader Michael Makaza has issued a hard-hitting press statement condemning the state of Zimbabwe’s health system, describing it as a national emergency that demands immediate action.
In the statement released on Sunday, Makaza lamented the tragic reality faced by healthcare institutions. “Mothers dying in childbirth, a tragedy we can’t ignore. Shortage of equipment, ambulances, and care—a crisis we must explore. Nurses and doctors are working tirelessly with limited resources, but still, lives are lost, and hope dwindles,” he said.
Makaza emphasized that urgent reforms are needed to save lives. “We can’t afford to lose another mother, another life. It’s time for change, it’s time to unite,” he declared.
The opposition leader urged citizens, health professionals, and stakeholders to rally behind efforts to revive the sector. He revealed that his movement will launch its campaign on September 13, with healthcare restoration as a top priority. “We’ll provide the care, the equipment, and the love. We’ll make sure every mother and child receives the care they deserve. Join the movement, join the fight—let’s bring hope and health to our nation, let’s make it right,” Makaza stated.
The statement concluded with the hashtags #WeMove, #RestoreOurHealth, and #HealthForAll, signaling that healthcare reform will be central to the party’s agenda.
