Tinotenda Hove – President Emmerson Mnangagwa has reaffirmed that Zimbabwe’s harmonised elections will go ahead in 2028, urging ZANU PF structures to begin preparing for victory while strengthening unity and grassroots mobilisation.
Speaking at the party’s 127th Ordinary Session of the Central Committee, held at ZANU PF Headquarters, Mnangagwa underscored the importance of strategic planning and collective effort as the ruling party gears up for the polls.
“It is important that we introspect as a party of the bigger picture that we must win the 2028 harmonised elections. The Central Committee must have robust and frank discussions to foster solutions in unity to realise our common vision. We must therefore do our best to foster strategies of shaping our country. No one is inferior, never look down upon yourselves and others,” Mnangagwa said.
He called on party members to remain vigilant in educating grassroots structures about the national agenda, stressing that every citizen has a role to play in building Zimbabwe.
“I urge us to remain alert, educating political structures and the grassroots of our national agenda. All of us have a contribution to make to our beloved nation Zimbabwe,” he added.
Mnangagwa highlighted progress in infrastructure development, youth and women empowerment, as well as rural modernisation projects. He also noted that the government is working to address external shocks such as climate change, while keeping the national Vision 2030 goals on track.
“Our national vision 2030 is now on course,” he said, emphasizing that the foundations of growth and modernization have been laid despite challenges.
The president’s remarks set the tone for ZANU PF’s internal discussions as the party maps out its strategies for the 2028 elections.
