Tinotenda Hove – President and Zanu PF First Secretary Emmerson Mnangagwa has openly acknowledged deepening cracks within the ruling party, warning that disruptive elements will be crushed as internal tensions spiral out of control.
Addressing Zanu PF’s 386th Ordinary Session of the Politburo in Harare on Wednesday, Mnangagwa admitted the existence of plots and maneuverings threatening to destabilize the party.
“Tactics and political chicanery meant to mislead, confuse, as well as divide the Party and Nation, must be nipped in the bud. We must all speak with one voice and march in one direction,” he said.
The rare admission comes amid reports of escalating factional battles, with insiders revealing mounting anxiety ahead of key political milestones. Mnangagwa insisted that absolute loyalty was non-negotiable, warning leaders against straying from agreed positions.
“Leaders of the Party are bound by collective responsibility and must unite around Party decisions and resolutions which serve as ideological and moral compass,” he added.
His remarks suggest a looming purge as Mnangagwa moves to restore control in a party increasingly beset by internal strife.
