A devastating incident of domestic violence has resulted in a 24-year-old man, Milton Tsanzirai Mukamba, being sentenced to 23 years in prison for the brutal murder of his wife, Rutendo Kapfudzaruwa.

The tragic event occurred on June 4, 2024, at Farm 19 in Tanda, Mayo, when Mukamba violently assaulted his wife with multiple weapons after discovering she had used $40 without his consent.

According to the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), the couple had been in a customary marriage, and the dispute arose around 10 pm when Mukamba confronted Kapfudzaruwa about the unauthorized use of funds.

The assault was relentless, and Kapfudzaruwa succumbed to her injuries that same night. The matter was promptly reported to the police, who found Mukamba at the scene, surrounded by villagers, and overcome with grief, admitting to having killed his wife.

Mukamba was subsequently tried, found guilty of causing his wife’s death, and handed a 23-year prison sentence.

This heartbreaking incident serves as a stark reminder of the devastating consequences of domestic violence and the importance of promoting healthy relationships, mutual respect, and conflict resolution.
