Tinotenda Hove – Police in Mayobodo have arrested a 51-year-old man for unlawful possession of a firearm following a recovery operation in the bush near Ntali Village.
The suspect, identified as Agripa Nyathi, was apprehended on 11 August 2025 after authorities received information leading to the discovery of a revolver pistol loaded with three live rounds.
According to police, the firearm was not licensed, and Nyathi could not produce any documentation authorising its possession. Law enforcement officials have since seized the weapon as part of ongoing investigations.
“The recovery of this firearm is a significant step in ensuring community safety,” police said. “We urge members of the public to report suspicious activities and illegal weapons to prevent potential harm.”
Nyathi is expected to face charges under laws governing the possession of firearms and ammunition without a licence. Police have reiterated that anyone found in possession of an unlicensed weapon will face the full force of the law.
