Tinotenda Hove – Opposition leader Michael Makaza, president of the political outfit Freedom Fighters for Change, has outlined his vision for a “brighter future” as Zimbabwe heads toward another pivotal election cycle.

In a passionate message shared on social media, Makaza rallied Zimbabweans to unite for change and announced the official launch of the party, scheduled for September 13, 2025.

“Hey Zimbabwe! It’s your boy Michael Makaza, President of Freedom Fighters for Change,” he said in the video post. “I’m excited to announce our official party launch on September 13, 2025! Join me and thousands of others as we claim our country back and build a brighter future. Let’s unite for change!”

The announcement, which carried hashtags like #WeMove, #BetterZimbabwe, and #FreedomFightersForChange, sparked immediate discussion online, especially among youth and first-time voters frustrated by Zimbabwe’s deepening socio-economic woes.

Makaza’s rising political movement has gained traction on platforms like TikTok, Facebook, and X (formerly Twitter), with supporters praising his energetic communication style and grassroots-driven messaging.

Observers say the upcoming launch will be a key test for the new party’s structure, reach, and ability to translate online enthusiasm into real-world political momentum.

While the ruling Zanu PF and other established opposition groups remain dominant on the national scene, Makaza’s message appears to be striking a chord among Zimbabweans yearning for fresh leadership and bold alternatives.

Details of the launch venue and programme are expected in the coming days.
