Tinotenda Hove – The Kwekwe Magistrates’ Court has convicted and sentenced 27-year-old Kudzai Munjoma to 10 months in prison for stealing from his younger brother, Simbarashe Munjoma.
Of the 10-month sentence, three months were suspended for five years on condition of good behavior, while a further two months were suspended provided that Kudzai restitutes US$225 to the complainant. He will effectively serve five months behind bars.
The court heard that on August 8, 2025, around 7:00 a.m., Simbarashe left the offender’s children at his home. Later that afternoon, at about 1:00 p.m., Kudzai went to his brother’s house and stole an Acer laptop, a Dell laptop, and a MiFi device. The children witnessed the theft.
When confronted the following day by his elder brother, Kudzai admitted to taking the items. The stolen property, valued at US$255, was never recovered.
In a statement, the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ) reminded the public that theft is a serious crime. “The offence is especially condemned when the victim is a family member who has placed their trust in you. Such actions do not go unpunished and will be prosecuted,” the authority said.
