Gweru- Award- winning Zimbabwean artist Keith Zenda, hailing from rural Chirumhanzu and based in Lower Gweru, is proving that art knows no boundaries.

Zenda is successfully showcasing Zimbabwean culture on international stages and nurturing a vision for the local art scene. He recently represented Zimbabwe and Africa at the
Zurich International Art Exhibition in Switzerland from May 23-25, 2025.
Zenda participated dressed in his own African attire designs, featuring Zimbabwe’s national fabric, expressing excitement to share the nation’s rich culture and tradition with an international audience.
As co-founder of the SwissZimHeritage gallery, Zenda is deeply passionate about celebrating Zimbabwean art and bridging continents through cultural exchange.

The exhibition was a “resounding success,” drawing interest from international art enthusiasts and galleries for potential partnerships. His booth notably featured works from Zimbabwean, South African, and Indian artists, fulfilling his mission to connect continents through art.
Following his European showcase, Zenda also exhibited at the Hamptons Fine Art Fair, which is was held from July 10 to 13, 2025. He described his participation at the Fair as a “dream come true” and an “incredible opportunity to showcase his work alongside international artists and connect with art enthusiasts and collectors from around the world”.
He expressed thrill at gaining exposure and forging meaningful connections that will advance his career.
Born in 1985 , Zenda discovered his talent at the age of ten and became a full-time artist after finishing secondary school. His work is inspired by his rural life background and projects the African Ubuntu spirit, portraying the essence of rich culture and belonging.
His creative process is often intuitive and experimental, drawing inspiration from his Zimbabwean heritage, culture, and personal experiences. His art explores various mediums and techniques to express his ideas and emotions.
Through his art, he aims to spark conversations and reflections on important issues, encouraging viewers to think critically and empathetically by sharing his perspectives.
Zenda firmly believes that his Zimbabwean heritage is a rich source of inspiration, allowing him to contribute fresh insights and narratives to the global art scene. While challenges exist, such as ensuring his work is well-represented and cohesive with exhibition themes, he overcomes obstacles by staying focused, working diligently, and seeking feedback from peers and mentors.
A memorable moment for him was meeting a collector who deeply resonated with his work, highlighting art’s power to connect people on a personal level.
Driven by his passion for art and storytelling , Zenda stays motivated by exploring new ideas, experimenting with different techniques, and engaging with fellow artists and enthusiasts.
He hopes viewers are inspired to reflect on their own identities, cultures, and experiences, aiming to evoke emotions and spark meaningful conversations.
Looking into the future, Zenda is excited about his upcoming project to open a state-of-the-art cultural gallery in Harare. This new gallery aims to showcase Zimbabwean art and culture, attracting tourists and art enthusiasts. He is also looking forward to future exhibitions in New York and Hampton, continuing his mission to share African stories with the world.
Zenda’s advice to aspiring artists is simple yet profound:
“Practice, be patient, and persistent. Above all, pray for blessings and guidance. Stay true to your artistic vision, and don’t be afraid to take risks and explore new opportunities. You don’t need to paint like other artists but be yourself and original”.
