The bail hearing for Heart and Soul TV journalist Blessed Mhlanga has been postponed indefinitely by the High Court. This decision follows the court’s request to review video evidence related to the case. Mhlanga’s lawyer, Chris Mhike, confirmed the postponement but refrained from providing further details to avoid potential contempt of court.
High Court Judge Justice Gibson Mandaza adjourned the hearing, citing the need to consider a request to include video evidence in Mhlanga’s case.
Mhlanga, who was arrested on February 24, 2025, on charges of inciting violence, is seeking to have electronic and video recordings presented as part of his defense. His lawyer, Chris Mhike, argued that the video evidence would highlight discrepancies between the remand form and the State’s evidence, which would aid in making a fair decision.
A new date for the bail hearing will be set once Justice Mandaza has reviewed the request.
