At least 404 Palestinians have been killed and 562 others wounded following Israel’s large-scale assault on Gaza, which has shattered a fragile two-month-old ceasefire with Hamas.
On Tuesday, Israeli airstrikes targeted various areas across Gaza, including Khan Younis and Rafah in the south, Gaza City in the north, and central regions like Deir el-Balah.
Many of the victims were children, according to Gaza’s Ministry of Health. The Palestinian Health Ministry reported that “404 martyrs and 562 injuries arrived at Gaza Strip hospitals so far,” adding that a number of people remain trapped under the rubble.
Hamas, the governing body of Gaza, condemned the attacks as a unilateral breach of the ceasefire that was agreed upon on January 19. In a statement, Hamas accused Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu and his government of canceling the ceasefire, putting Palestinian prisoners in Gaza at grave risk. The group has called for protests worldwide, urging Arab, Islamic, and global supporters to take to the streets in response to the assault.
