Illegal mining activities have caused a significant crack to appear on Zvishavane’s Novale Road, raising serious safety concerns for both residents and travelers.

Mining plays a vital role in achieving Vision 2030, as outlined in the National Development Strategy One (NDS1). However, illegal mining is hindering the progress intended by this initiative.

Zvishavane District Development Coordinator, Mr. Darlington Chokera, has strongly condemned the unlawful mining practices near residential areas and key public infrastructure. He stressed the importance of a collective approach to address the problem.

“We are launching a vigorous operation to remove these offenders, and we call on the community to report any illegal or hazardous activities to the authorities,” he said.

Novale Road serves as a critical link connecting various communities and businesses in Zvishavane.
