Tinotenda Hove – Prominent businessman Kuda Tagwirei has reaffirmed his support for President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s developmental vision, boldly stating that failure to heed the President’s advice will result in poverty.
Speaking over the weekend at a Zion Christian Church (ZCC) gathering in Chegutu, Tagwirei passionately endorsed Mnangagwa’s long-standing mantra, “Nyika inovakwa nevene vayo” (a country is built by its own people), arguing that it is a critical pillar in the growth of indigenous enterprises since the beginning of the Second Republic.
“If you don’t listen to President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s advice you will die poor,” declared Tagwirei. “We are responsible for building our country. You expect a whiteman to assist you?”
His comments drew a mix of applause and reflection among congregants, many of whom have witnessed the growing emphasis on economic empowerment under Zimbabwe’s current leadership.
Tagwirei, who has often been associated with the inner circles of political power and has faced international sanctions, credited the President with standing by him during challenging times.
“Sekuru Mnangagwa (my uncle the President) strengthened me when I was placed under sanctions,” he said, suggesting a personal as well as political loyalty to the Head of State.
The businessman’s remarks reinforce the administration’s call for self-reliance and national ownership of economic development, even as the country continues to navigate sanctions and global economic pressures.
