Tinotenda Hove – Two people lost their lives while ten others were injured in a road accident involving an overloaded Honda Fit on Thursday evening along the Nyanga–Rwenya Road.

The crash occurred around 5 PM at the 48-kilometre peg, when the small vehicle, carrying far more passengers than its capacity, veered off the road and overturned, landing on its roof.

According to the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP), the Honda Fit had 12 occupants including the driver at the time of the incident.

In a statement, police said:
“Two fatalities have been confirmed, and ten people sustained injuries after the vehicle lost control and overturned. The deceased have been taken to Nyanga District Hospital for post-mortem, while the injured are receiving treatment at Regina Coeli Mission Hospital.”

Authorities have urged motorists to avoid overloading vehicles and exercise caution when travelling on rural roads.
