Tinotenda Hove- Zimbabwean football fans have hailed the US$4.3 million sponsorship package secured between CAPS United and Green Dollar Coin UK, describing it as a lifeline that could revive the struggling domestic game.
The partnership, announced on Friday, is expected to ease financial challenges faced by clubs and inject fresh momentum into local football.
“This is the kind of support our football has been crying for. At least someone has remembered the fans and the players. Football is more than just a game; it’s our passion and our pride,” said one fan outside the CAPS United training ground.
Another supporter added: “We are tired of seeing our teams struggle. Green Dollar Coin has done something that even big corporates have been afraid to do. This is not only about CAPS United; this is about the future of our football.”
Green Dollar Coin UK official Noel Mavura described the deal as part of a broader empowerment agenda. “The Green Dollar seeks to empower future generations. This is about wealth transfer and empowerment for Africa and the world. The Green Dollar Coin is more than just a stable currency; it is a movement for empowerment. The world is revolving, let’s embrace the initiative,” he said.
Mavura added: “We are happy to unveil this US$4.3 million partnership deal, which we believe will go a long way in terms of football development. CAPS United is a big institution, and we are proud to set up this funding partnership with them. The Green Dollar Coin is not only an investment but also an empowerment initiative for Zimbabwe and Africa. We are confident this partnership will uplift both the game of football and the broader community.”
CAPS United president Farai Jere welcomed the sponsorship, describing it as timely. “This sponsorship comes at a crucial time when local football has been struggling financially. We are grateful to Green Dollar Coin for believing in Zimbabwean football,” he said.
Fans echoed his sentiments, saying the deal has restored optimism. “Football has been dead for too long. This partnership has brought back belief. Maybe now we can see our league grow again,” said another supporter.
Meanwhile, Green Dollar Coin UK confirmed plans to expand trading platforms. “Currently Green Dollar Coin is registered on Azbit Exchange Seychelles to open trading on 1 December 2025. We are registering on Coinstore Exchange, LBank Exchange, Bitmart Exchange, P2B Exchange, and a few more exchanges,” the company said.
With the sponsorship now secured, supporters say they are ready to back both CAPS United and Green Dollar Coin UK for showing confidence in the country’s game.
