Tinotenda Hove – Dr. Grace “Gucci” Mugabe, the former First Lady of Zimbabwe, recently marked a significant milestone as she turned 60 years old. The birthday celebration was kept private, with a select group of high-profile guests in attendance.
The exclusive party was reportedly attended by some of Zimbabwe’s political heavyweights, sparking curiosity and speculation within political circles. Among the notable attendees was the Second Lady, Minnie Chiwenga, wife to Vice President Constantino Chiwenga, signaling a rare public gesture of unity across political divides.
Also present was Chris “Manhize” Mutsvangwa, the ZANU PF stalwart and Minister of Veterans of the Liberation Struggle Affairs, accompanied by his wife, Monica Mutsvangwa, the Minister of Women Affairs. Their attendance, alongside that of Dr. Grace’s brother, former ZANU PF National Political Commissar Mike Bimha, and his wife Tsitsi, added to the political color of the private celebration.
Though the event was low-key and closed to the media, sources described it as elegant and intimate, befitting the controversial and often headline-grabbing former First Lady. Dr. Grace Mugabe, once known for her lavish lifestyle and powerful influence during the final years of President Robert Mugabe’s rule, has largely stayed out of the limelight since her husband’s ousting in 2017.
Her 60th birthday celebration, however, has reignited public interest, not just in her personal life but in her lingering influence within certain political and social circles.
