Tinotenda Hove – President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa is en route to Osaka, Japan, with a brief technical stopover in Mumbai, India, where he received a briefing on Zimbabwe-India bilateral relations from Zimbabwe’s Ambassador to India, Stella Nkomo.
The two nations maintain a strong educational partnership, with over 7,000 Zimbabwean students currently studying in India. Of these, 1,400 are beneficiaries of the Presidential Scholarship programme, according to Presidential spokesman George Charamba.
“Almost all are pursuing technology-related studies, with HIT and NUST running a dedicated staff development programme for university lecturing staff,” Charamba said.
He added that cooperation between Zimbabwe and India in the medical and pharmaceutical sectors “continues to grow, more so with the new growth plan for our Central Hospitals.”
