Tinotenda Hove – Opposition party Freedom Fighters for Change has delivered a scathing rebuke of Zimbabwe’s current state, accusing the ruling elite of destroying the country’s once-thriving agricultural base and turning the nation into “a begging bowl.”

In a strongly worded statement issued Sunday, the party declared that the collapse of agriculture and reckless land use policies have left Zimbabweans on the edge of economic ruin.

“Fellow Zimbabweans, we gather today at a crossroads,” the statement read. “A nation once renowned as the breadbasket of Southern Africa has been reduced to a begging bowl. Our fertile lands, once teeming with life and productivity, are being converted into mere building stands. Where are we headed as a nation?”

The movement, which is positioning itself as a force for economic renewal, described the current trajectory as disastrous and vowed to fight for real change.

“This is unacceptable! We cannot continue down a path that prioritizes short-term gains over sustainable development,” the party said. “It’s time for change. Freedom Fighters for Change is committed to reversing this trend. We invite you all to join us in finalizing the deal for change. Let’s work together to reclaim our agricultural heritage, boost our economy, and build a brighter future for all Zimbabweans. #WeMove.”

Political analysts say the statement reflects growing frustration among opposition groups and ordinary citizens who believe that mismanagement has transformed Zimbabwe from a regional food supplier into a country dependent on imports and aid.
