Below is the full statement from Freedom Fighters for Change:
The Freedom Fighters for Change political movement condemns in the strongest terms the brutal killing of businessman Joseph Mutangadura at his Ruwa farmhouse, known locally as “Mutangadura Hideout.”
The details that have emerged paint a chilling picture of a targeted and deliberate act, rather than a simple robbery.
Seven armed men stormed the 13-roomed property, faces covered in balaclavas, bypassing valuables and even ignoring cash at a nearby abattoir, before shooting the 67-year-old Mutangadura in cold blood. Only a US$10 cellphone was taken. According to reports, the attackers specifically asked for a description of Mutangadura before entering the house, suggesting this was a premeditated and personal attack.
Such heinous acts are symptomatic of the high levels of crime fueled by unemployment, lawlessness, and the ongoing economic turmoil under the current Zanu PF regime.
Families and communities live in constant fear when violence of this magnitude can occur despite visible security measures.
The killing of Mutangadura is not just a tragedy for his family, but a stark reminder that Zimbabweans are paying the ultimate price for a failed political and economic system.
Freedom Fighters for Change believes that incidents like this highlight the urgent need for a new political dispensation—one that restores law, order, and economic stability, and protects the lives of citizens.
We call on authorities to pursue a full, transparent investigation into this killing and to ensure justice is served. Zimbabweans deserve safety, accountability, and a leadership that prioritizes their welfare above political survival.
This targeted killing shows the dark consequences of Zanu PF’s mismanagement, and it is clear that without systemic change, more lives will continue to be lost unnecessarily.
Join us on September 13 for the official launch of the Freedom Fighters for Change party. Be part of the movement for a safer, prosperous Zimbabwe.
