The leader of the newly formed political movement, Freedom Fighters for Change (FFC), Michael Makaza, has called for urgent action to address the low wages earned by Zimbabwe’s civil servants, describing their pay as an insult to the nation’s workforce.
In a statement released on Monday, Makaza said government workers were carrying the country on their shoulders but remained grossly underpaid.
“Our civil servants are the backbone of our nation, yet they’re paid peanuts. It’s time for change! Let’s honour their efforts and demand fair compensation. Join the Freedom Fighters for Change launch and let’s fight for pay justice! #WeMove #PayThemJustice #FFC,” he declared.
Makaza went on to criticize the current wage structure, stressing that the party’s campaign would prioritize dignity and fairness for state employees.
“Unacceptable wages for our civil servants? No more! Let’s appreciate their hard work and demand fair pay. Join the Freedom Fighters for Change launch and let’s make a difference! #WeMove #PayThemJustice #FFC,” he said.
The Freedom Fighters for Change is expected to officially launch its movement in the coming weeks, with Makaza promising that salary justice for public sector workers will be at the core of its political agenda.
