Tinotenda Hove – Freedom Fighters for Change (FFC) leader Michael Makaza has called for urgent reforms to address gender inequality in land ownership, saying women continue to face discrimination despite constitutional guarantees.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the party said traditional leaders and policymakers must uphold the rights of all citizens, particularly women who are still excluded from key social and economic processes.

“As traditional leaders, we have a responsibility to uphold the rights of our people. Section 17 of the Constitution calls for gender balance in land allocation, but the reality is that women still face significant barriers to land ownership,” the party said.

FFC pledged to push for reforms that ensure women have equal rights to both ownership and control of land.

“FFC is committed to advocating for reforms that ensure women have equal rights to land ownership and control. Let’s work together to drive food security, economic justice, and true equality for all Zimbabweans,” the party added.

The statement reinforced FFC’s position that fair access to land is not only a constitutional obligation but also central to food security and economic justice in Zimbabwe.
