Tinotenda Hove – Harare Mayor Jacob Mafume has confirmed that a fire which broke out at Sally Mugabe Central Hospital has been successfully contained, with all patients safely evacuated from the affected areas.

Initial reports had indicated that the blaze originated in the nurses’ residence. However, authorities have since clarified that the fire started in a storeroom located above a female ward, the operating theatre, and the intensive care unit (ICU).

Mayor Mafume stated that investigations are currently underway to determine the cause of the fire.
