Tinotenda Hove – Ziyapenduka Village in Chipinge was left in shock following a gruesome killing where a man allegedly murdered his brother over an ongoing feud sparked by dog fights.
The suspect, 48-year-old Amos Nduna, is accused of fatally attacking his brother after a long-standing dispute between them, reportedly fueled by repeated clashes between their dogs. What began as a minor quarrel escalated into a tragic act of violence that has horrified the local community.
According to police reports, the two brothers crossed paths on the way to their respective properties on the day of the incident. Their dogs reportedly got into another fight, triggering a verbal altercation between the siblings. Although the argument initially seemed to have ended, Nduna allegedly followed his brother to his banana plantation later that day.
It was there, authorities say, that Nduna ambushed his brother and struck him multiple times with a machete in a brutal attack. The following day, the victim’s domestic worker became alarmed when the house remained locked and the owner was nowhere to be seen. A search led to the horrifying discovery of the man’s lifeless body lying in a pool of blood among the banana trees.
Police were alerted immediately. They arrested Nduna and recovered the suspected murder weapon at the scene.
The accused appeared before Magistrate Cathrine Dzivanyika at the Chipinge Magistrate Court on May 8th, 2025, where he was formally charged with murder under Section 47 of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act [Chapter 9:23]. Prosecutor Tanaka Mufudza represented the State. Nduna was remanded in custody until May 22nd, pending further court proceedings.
In the wake of the killing, the Zimbabwe Republic Police has urged the public to resolve conflicts through peaceful dialogue and professional mediation, stressing the irreversible cost of violence.
