Zanu PF Varakashi member Mairosi Watungwa on Thursday revealed that the ruling party will be holding a “Day of Prayer” ahead of its upcoming National Annual People’s Conference in Mutare.
The gathering, set for October 3, 2025, will be held at the Mutare Showgrounds and is being organized by the Zimbabwe Indigenous Interdenominational Churches (ZIIC) in partnership with Pastors4ED and Vapostori4ED. According to Watungwa, the initiative is meant to spiritually cleanse and prepare the venue before the conference, which is scheduled for October 13–18.
“The theme of the Day of Prayer is ‘Divine Direction for National Progress & Development to Achieve Vision 2030’,” Watungwa said. “This event will start at 9am and will be graced by senior Zanu PF officials and church leaders who will pray for the success of the party and the nation.”
Minister of Defence and Zanu PF National Chairperson, Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri, has been named the guest of honor. Other notable speakers include Manicaland Minister of State Misheck Mugadza, Bishop Nehemiah Mutendi, Apostle Andrew Utaunashe, businessman Kudakwashe Tagwirei, Presidential Investment Advisor Paul Tungwarara, Prophetess Idirashe Grace Dongo and Vapostori4ED leader Madzibaba Moses.
Watungwa urged participants to attend in full church regalia, stressing that unity in prayer was crucial. “We are calling on all believers to come together as one people and pray for our beloved nation. Zimbabwe must achieve Vision 2030, and prayer is part of the journey,” he said.
