Tinotenda Hove– Opposition leader Michael Makaza has declared that Zimbabwe is on the verge of a new beginning, urging citizens not to lose hope in the fight for democratic change and national transformation.
Makaza, who leads the recently formed political party Freedom Fighters for Change, delivered a passionate message to supporters and citizens at the start of August, describing the month as a symbolic opportunity for renewal and unity in the struggle for a better Zimbabwe.
“As July comes to a close, we welcome the new month of August with hope, determination, and unwavering resolve,” Makaza said. “To all Zimbabweans fighting for change, I wish you a Happy New Month. May August bring us closer to our goal of a better Zimbabwe, where freedom, justice, and prosperity reign.”
His comments come amid growing discontent over the country’s economic crisis, alleged political repression, and worsening service delivery — issues that have galvanized movements like Freedom Fighters for Change.
Makaza urged citizens to remain steadfast, particularly those feeling worn down by years of political stagnation.
“To those who seem tired in the struggle, I say: stay courageous! Your efforts are crucial to our collective victory. Let’s march forward together, united in our quest for a brighter future,” he said.
Concluding his message with a rallying cry, Makaza declared: “The dawn of a new Zimbabwe is near!”
The Freedom Fighters for Change movement has been gaining traction, especially among youth and urban voters disillusioned with the ruling ZANU PF party and what they see as a lack of genuine reform.
Makaza’s message, widely shared on social media under the hashtags #TheBirthOfNewZimbabwe, #FreedomFightersForChange, and #WeMove, was met with encouragement from supporters, some of whom described it as “the hope we needed to hear.”
As Zimbabwe inches closer to another potential election cycle, Makaza’s words signal that the political temperature is rising — and so is the determination of those pushing for a new political era.
