Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) Member of Parliament for Southerton Constituency, Bridget Nyandoro, has sparked outrage and debate after publicly declaring that the opposition is effectively non-existent in Zimbabwe.

Nyandoro, one of the CCC legislators who received residential stands reportedly allocated by the ruling Zanu PF government, made the remarks in a blunt statement that criticized both her own party and the expectations of Zimbabwean citizens.

“I feel sorry for you, you think there is opposition in this country,” said Nyandoro. “The people you think are one day going to rescue you from any societal, economic troubles are more corrupt than Zanu PF, yavanotuka masikati manheru voenda kuma drinks. Imbavha dzega dzega idzi. Tsvagai mabasa muchengete mhuri dzenyu, bez vanhu vamakatemba ma rukaz havanei nemi, vari kutoita zve life yavo.”

The statement, shared widely on social media, appears to be a veiled attack on CCC leadership and its supporters, with Nyandoro urging Zimbabweans to abandon hopes of political change and instead focus on employment and survival.

Nyandoro also lashed out at fellow opposition MPs who have distanced themselves from the controversial land allocations but previously accepted other government perks.

“Vanhu vari kuita hypocrisy. Imi maka tora $40 000 makanyarara, now because you haven’t received stands, you act holy?” she allegedly said in another conversation making rounds online.

Her comments have drawn sharp criticism from opposition supporters, civil society activists, and political commentators who say her statements reflect growing cracks within the CCC and highlight the challenge of internal accountability.

Nyandoro’s remarks come amid growing public concern over allegations of co-optation of opposition MPs through state-sponsored benefits, including cash and land, which critics say undermines the integrity and independence of Zimbabwe’s opposition
