Tinotenda Hove – A local opposition councillor, Amos Reza, has tragically passed away due to injuries sustained in a recent road traffic accident.
The Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) in Chivhu confirmed the heartbreaking news on Wednesday.
According to the CCC statement, Councillor Reza succumbed to his injuries after receiving treatment in intensive care. Reza represented Ward 10 in Chivhu’s Chikomba district, which includes areas such as Highview, Skyview, Kundis, Kadoma, Masvingo, and Riverside.
“Councillor Reza, who represented Ward 10 in Chivhu’s Chikomba district, sadly could not recover from his injuries,” the statement read. His determination during hospitalization showcased his strength and commitment to the community. The CCC expressed sorrow over the loss of their councillor, mourning the passing of a dedicated public servant.
Road accidents are a major concern globally, with approximately 1.19 million people dying each year as a result of road traffic crashes. In many cases, these accidents are caused by human error, speeding, or reckless driving .
