Tinotenda Hove -The Office of the President and Cabinet, working with the Ministry of Tourism and Hospitality Industry, staged a lively musical gala over the weekend on the banks of the mighty Save River at Birchenough Bridge in Manicaland Province.
The event, which extended the Sanganai/Hlanganani premier tourism showcase held earlier in Mutare, drew thousands for a night of top Zimbabwean entertainment. The festivities were preceded by a colourful programme of sporting and cultural activities, highlighted by an appearance from the victorious national rugby side, the Sables.
Organisers said the celebration was meant to boost domestic tourism while promoting Birchenough Bridge and the Save beach as flagship attractions in Manicaland. The province is also home to a rich variety of natural wonders, including Hot Springs, Mtarazi Falls, Bridal Veil Falls, Chirinda Forest, and the mysterious Nyanga mountain, the highest peak in Zimbabwe.
The gala was broadcast live on ZBC TV overnight and streamed on the Presidential Communications platforms.
