Police have issued a stern warning to the public to be cautious when engaging with job offers or dating opportunities on social media, as these platforms have become a breeding ground for scams and exploitation.
In a recent statement, the police emphasized the increasing number of individuals falling victim to online fraud. “Many desperate and unsuspecting people across the country have been scammed or subjected to sexual abuse,” the police warned.
The authorities have urged people to carefully verify any job opportunities or dating invitations they come across online, especially when they seem too good to be true. Police also highlighted the dangers of sharing personal information with strangers and the risks involved in meeting people from online platforms in real life.
“Scammers are becoming more sophisticated, often using legitimate-looking job offers or romantic propositions to lure their victims,” the police added. They urged the public to report any suspicious activity immediately to help prevent further exploitation and ensure the safety of everyone online.
The warning comes amid a growing number of reports where individuals have been tricked into handing over money or personal details under the guise of fake job offers or relationships.
