Tinotenda Hove – The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has confirmed a fatal road traffic accident that claimed two lives along the Rusape–Nyanga Road on Saturday morning.

The tragic incident occurred at the 8-kilometre peg at around 10:00 am when an Isuzu pickup truck, carrying three passengers, attempted to overtake a bus in the face of an oncoming BMW vehicle.

The BMW was being driven by former Caps United and Young Warriors star, Alois Bunjira, who had one passenger on board.

The two vehicles collided head-on, killing two passengers from the Isuzu on the spot. The bodies of the deceased were taken to Rusape General Hospital mortuary for post-mortem.

Three other people, including Bunjira and the passengers from both vehicles, sustained injuries and are receiving treatment at Rusape General Hospital.

Police urged motorists to exercise extreme caution on the country’s highways, emphasising that reckless overtaking continues to be one of the leading causes of fatal accidents on Zimbabwean roads.
